Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,

"What would a Wamogo Warrior do?" This is a question that our elementary school students will be exploring after the new year.

To continue the momentum throughout the district of uniting our four schools with RSD6 pride, the elementary schools will be rolling out a homegrown behavioral-management initiative rooted in developing skills, behaviors, and habits of mind that will prepare our students for success at Wamogo and beyond.

As part of our 2018-2019 school improvement plans, we asked students for their input in how their school experience can be more productive and enjoyable. One of the messages shared by students in upper-elementary is that they want to be treated like middle schoolers rather than elementary schoolers once they reach upper elementary. Our principals and school psychologists heard and considered this feedback, while also reflecting upon how to strengthen our students' preparedness for middle school, in general.

At the same time, our "E-Team" of teachers (art, chorus, instrumental, physical education, foreign language, wellness, and library-media) were reflecting upon their years of observations of students behaviors and how we might be able to strengthen our approach throughout the three elementary schools. In October, the administrators and E-Team met and began to develop an action plan. The result? Our "Wamogo Warriors Show the Way" rollout for 2019.

With the help of Wamogo staff and administration, and with the support of Superintendent Chris Leone, we will be sharing with students and posting customized posters in all classrooms and hallways showing and reminding our students of "the Wamogo Way". Additionally, a parent-outreach and student-reflection component will be in place to address behavioral concerns, should they arise. Stay tuned for more details!

I hope you all have a safe and peaceful winter break with family and friends!

KC Chapman, Principal
