A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

I hope that you all had a wonderful week.

Each spring, we ask our students' families to participate in a survey that is designed to gather your feedback on a number of topics, including you and your child(ren)'s perceptions of the school's academics, administration, safety and security, communication, and opportunities for parent/guardian involvement, among other things.

One of the questions on the survey asks, "How involved have you been in fundraising efforts at your child's school?" When considering this question, please note that simply participating with your child is being involved. Fundraisers that we have done so far this year include

Ollie's Pizza Night (High Notes Music Festival)
CCMC donations and food/clothing/toy drive (JMS three-school "Everyone Belongs" celebration)
Valentines Day carnation sale (6th grade activities)
Conference-night gift basket silent raffle (6th grade activities)
    Freund's Farm Pie Fundraiser (PTO)
    Candy Cane Lane Fundraiser (PTO)
    Fall Festival (PTO)
    MorrisWear sale (6th grade activities)
    JMS grocery bags (Student Activities)
    Harlem Wizards (Wamogo)
Penny Wars (Red Cross, Hurricane Dorian Relief)

If you have helped your student participate in these or any fundraisers, then you have been involved! We thank you for your continued support of these efforts.

RSD6 elementary students in grades four, five and six will have the opportunity to participate in the district’s annual spelling bee. Classroom spelling bees will take place the week of March 2nd, 2020. Three winners will advance to a school spelling bee, which will be held on March 27th, 2020. Two finalists from each school will then advance to the district spelling bee on April 30th, 2020 at Warren Elementary School. This year, we will be using word lists from Scripps. The Scripps National Spelling Bee is an annual spelling bee held in the United States.

A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Region 6 Community,

In November, the community, at referendum, approved a change to the Region 6 Education Plan ("The Charter") to allow for 6th grade students to attend middle school at WAMOGO starting with the 2021-2022 school year.

While this date is over 18 months in the future, this is not an event, but rather a process that must include students, staff, parents, and community.

The following is a link to the Middle School Implementation Plan that was approved last night by the Board of Education: MS Implementation Plan Presentation

I will keep everyone informed of our shared work as we move forward over the coming months.

I look forward to this opportunity to lead the work and enhance the education for our students.

Regards,

Chris
